• Wrote an Perl script to aid in the replication of an online database.
• Created a Visual Basic application which interfaced to a SQL server database for use in customer order tracking and input.
• Created many customized web applications for customers which provided interfaces to a SQL database. Interfaces provided for members only and administrative access.

Engineer providing software support for the Common VIA (Versatile Integrated Avionics) Development Team. Part of the Platform Software and Software Integration and Tools Group. Responsibilities include aiding team members in tool purchase, installation, configuration, maintenance, and use and performing integration for software components.
 
• Wrote an Access database to track tool installations done for various projects on individual workstations.
• Wrote a training plan for the Common VIA Development Team.

Contractor providing C, C++, Java and SQL support for Spectral Sensing and imaging processing applications at Air Force Research Laboratory.
 
• Responsible for database and database server design and implementation on a project to provide Internet/Intranet access to a program tracking image processing algorithms used on multispectral images saved via a database. (in Java using JDBC to connect to an Informix database)
• Wrote a GUI using C libraries to import data from tapes into an Informix database.
• Developed a small database for archiving information from sensor data collections. The database was implemented in Microsoft Access and included several Visual Basic procedures for automating storage and retrieval. Additional routines to read header information from raw binary files and import it into the Access database were written in Java.

Developed and maintained in-house applications using C, ESQL/C and UNIX utilities (sed, awk, shell scripts). Responsible for providing magazine production support by maintaining a relational database.
 
• Wrote a C program to automatically change the times in a Quark Xpress tags file to another time zone.
• Assisted in the system administration of several, newly-purchased Sun workstations including configuration of the systems and installation of new software.
• Coded applications to create Quark Xpress tags files for use in magazine production on Macintosh systems and ensured that the resulting files could be used on the Mac. (C, ESQL/C, sed/awk)

Worked on various contracts to provide C, C++,and Java programming,  GUI development and general computer support at Sandia National Labs.
 
• Created a GUI as part of a manufacturing process expert system and solid modeling program (in C++) for a Windows 95/NT environment.
• Developed and implemented a protocol to provide key management functionality for an ATM encryption testbed. (in C)

Provided computer support to UNIX system users via phone calls, electronic mail, and hands-on classes. Areas supported included operating system and applications usage, general programming concepts, and Internet navigation.  Developed and maintained computer programs to aid in help desk support.
 
• Installed and maintained an online help program for Unix machines. Also wrote help documentation used by the program.(in C and nroff)
• Created a GUI (in Motif) for help desk personnel to allow easy access to online information and automated UNIX scripts (sed/awk/csh).
• Taught two hour introduction classes on a variety of Unix subjects including unix, emacs, OpenWindows, pine, and cmm.
• Supervisor for part-time student Unix consultants. Responsible for training, scheduling and managing workers.

Assisted upstream researchers with the use and development of computer applications. Support included aiding in data visualization, manipulation, and analysis.

• Installed a wave analysis finite element program onto a IBM RS6000 workstation. Made improvements to the code to make it more efficient and added scripts to automate execution.

• Created a C program to create meshes of oil platforms for use in a finite element analysis program.

Maintained and programmed an antisubmarine warfare simulation which was written in FORTRAN. Responsible for enhancing, debugging, and updating the simulation.

• Added a sensor model to an anti-submarine warfare simulation which ran on a Sun Sparc workstation.

Researched and developed a prototype system (in LISP) which combined expert system technology with conventional avionics software to increase combat situational awareness.

• Developed a threat assessment expert system. (in LISP) Responsible for functional analysis, requirements specification, design, implementation and validation.
• Prepared an indepth analysis of use of a blackboard system as a control mechanism for integrating expert systems and avionics systems.

Developed software to analyze the dynamic responses of aircraft systems. Worked on aircraft simulations and in the development of expert systems for use in flight control and flight test.

• Worked on a F-15 aircraft simulation, adding an engine model, updating the control system and plotting aerodynamic data. (in FORTRAN on a VAX).
• Researched ways to implement procedural information in a flight systems expert system.
